• Base Salary HEO3 (38 hours per week) $76,356 – $84,789 p.a. + 17% superannuation + premium
loadings for after hours and weekend shifts
About the opportunity
The School of Veterinary Science is looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to provide exceptional customer
service to Hospital clients, staff and students through the provision of high level reception, telephony and
administrative duties.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
• answer telephone enquiries from the general public, members of staff and referring veterinarians in a
polite and professional manner
• accurately schedule appointments
• accurately enter data
• perform accounts administration including invoicing, accounts receivables, accounts payable and assist
with client debt collection
• promotes the sale of veterinary products
• reconcile the computerised banking system
• perform general administrative duties such as mail merges, newsletters and promotional activities and
generation of client information handouts and vaccination reminders
• undertake filing and general maintenance of client and patient records
• ensure follow up of important information, enquiries and questions with veterinarians and clients
• accurately distribute correspondence between clinic staff, referring veterinarians and clients
• assist clients with completion of forms such as pet insurance claim and boarding forms
• maintain reception area in neat and tidy condition including cleaning of areas
• respond to email enquiries from clients, University employees and members of the general public in a
discreet and professional manner
• perform work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the supervisor and
commensurate to the role’s classification level
• work with a rotating 5 day work week with 2 days off per week. Available for rotating shift times
according to Reception opening hours between 7am – Midnight Monday to Sunday.

About you

Veterinary Receptionist who has:
• prior experience working in a Veterinary Hospital highly desirable
• a Cert II in Animal Care or higher (not essential, but highly desirable)
• excellent time and workload management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks,
meet deadlines, and achieve required outcomes with attention to detail
• strong computer skills, with knowledge and experience in MS Office Suite, Rx Works or an equivalent
veterinary software highly desirable
• excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict
resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters
• the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound
judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
